Sharjah Warriors lost against Gulf Giants in ILT20 League

Experienced David Wiese’s brilliant five-wicket haul in the final league of ILT20 doomed Sharjah Warriors, which ultimately ended their playoff qualification hopes. After bowling out Sharjah for just 107 runs in 18.3 overs, Giants skipper James Vince and Colin de Grandhomme took their time to put on a 47-ball 50-run second-wicket stand that took the Giants to the top.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit a six in the first over

Rahmanullah Gurbaz made his intentions clear by hitting a six in the very first over of the game but was stopped by Sanchit Sharma. However, it was Tom Kohler-Cadmore who threatened to walk away from the game when he attacked in the powerplay. He hit Tom Helm for three fours and six off four consecutive balls to make 33 off 18 balls before Helm got his revenge.

Stoinis gave success to his team

The target of 108 was never in danger for the Giants who were all out for 18 in the first two overs. Stoinis broke through Tom Banton’s defense in the powerplay to get his team through but by the halfway stage, the Giants already had 60 runs on the board and would be hoping for a miracle. Colin de Grandhomme hit a few sixes to bring the equation down and those hopes were quickly dashed. Even though Junaid Siddiqui stopped the veteran and dismissed James Vince in the same over, there was no worry in the Giants camp as they completed the job with 21 balls to spare.

Sharjah will play against Dubai Capitals in the Eliminator

The Gulf Giants will enter Qualifier 1 against the Desert Vipers on a high as Vince’s team has won seven of their 10 matches with one draw and two losses. Team Orange will start as favorites at the Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday while MI Emirates will play against Dubai Capitals in the Eliminator in Sharjah on Wednesday. The losers of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator will play in Qualifier 2 in Dubai on Friday for a place in Sunday’s final.
